Overview
The Brahmatal Trek is a 5-day adventure in the stunning Uttarakhand Himalayas, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks like Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. Starting from Lohajang, the trek takes you through dense oak and rhododendron forests to the serene Bekaltal Lake and the summit of Brahmatal. Ideal for both beginners and experienced trekkers, this trek combines scenic landscapes, forest camping, and panoramic summit views, providing an unforgettable winter trekking experience. All meals, permits, and transportation included.
Itinerary
Travel: 10-hour drive
Details: Arrive at Kathgodam Railway Station and begin your drive to Lohajang, the base camp for the trek. The scenic journey takes you through beautiful landscapes, including Almora and Kausani. Overnight stay in a guest house at Lohajang.
Stay: Guest House
Trek Distance: 6 km
Details: Start your trek from Lohajang, ascending through oak and rhododendron forests to Bekaltal. The trail is serene and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. On reaching Bekaltal, set up camp near the lake.
Stay: Tents at Bekaltal
Trek Distance: 10 km
Details: Trek to the Brahmatal summit, the highlight of the trip, offering panoramic views of Mt. Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and other snow-clad peaks. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery, descend back to Bekaltal for the night.
Stay: Tents at Bekaltal
Trek Distance: 6 km
Details: Descend from Bekaltal to Lohajang, retracing your steps through the beautiful forested trails. The descent is relatively easy and provides ample opportunity to enjoy the stunning surroundings one last time.
Stay: Guest House at Lohajang
Travel: 10-hour drive
Details: After breakfast, drive back to Kathgodam, concluding your trek with beautiful memories of the Brahmatal adventure. Departure from Kathgodam for your onward journey.

The best time to trek Brahmatal is during the winter months (December to March) when the trail is covered with snow, offering stunning winter landscapes, and also during the pre-summer season (April to June) when the weather is pleasant.
The Brahmatal Trek is of moderate difficulty, suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. It involves trekking through snowy paths, forest trails, and some steep ascents.
The maximum altitude reached on this trek is 3,730 meters (12,240 feet) at the Brahmatal Summit.
Accommodation includes guest houses at Lohajang and tents during the trekking days at Bekaltal and Brahmatal. Basic facilities with necessary comforts for trekking are provided.
